Maheshwar Trip - A Memorable Outing Trip!
Last weekend we planned for Maheshwar trip. Maheshwar town is built on the site of the ancient city of Maheshvari, and was the capital of King Kartavirya Arjuna, who is mentioned in the Sanskrit epics Mahabharata and Ramayana. It is a town in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh state, in central India. It is located 13 km east of National Highway 3 (Agra-Mumbai highway) and 91 km from Indore. The town lies on the north bank of the Narmada River.
After prolonged discussions and suggestions from each team member we decided to visit Maheshwar on the 24th July, Saturday. The trip was birthday treat from Abhishek and Ankit and welcome party from Pradeep. So it was party time for all team members along with their families.
We started at 5.30 am from BTC, on the way picked our valuable cook and started the journey for Choral where we had decided to take our breakfast. The menu for the day was planned and if we name it I am sure all Malawas will have watering tongue. POHA, JHALEBI...with tea and lovely water fall, sounds great! So was the place there. Despite the humidity and heat everyone enjoyed the slow waterfall and great photography by Ankit/Prashant! We left that place by 10.30am followed by Pradeep's welcome speech. Praveen we missed your presence during the speech Time. Thanks Pradeep for your treat!!
As all started early that day half were feeling sleepy and rest wished the other never slept. So to awake all of them we decided to switch on the music. Music, if I recall this - it was the funniest part of my trip - typical one eg “Tum to thare paredesi saath kya nibhaoge” that you can hear in all long distance buses and trucks. We reached Maheshwar at 12.30 pm.
The first place that we visited was Ahiliya’s Fort where we saw Rani’s Lord Shiva temple and Darbar. The view of river from above was awesome. Everyone just floated to go for boating. Boating and the walk to Sahastradhara were tiring, the humid weather had taken half of our energies but the cool breeze was reviving as ever. We enjoyed the flashing water thinking the time would stop and we could sit there for hours. But before we could extend the halt there our boatman called us - we like the hungry gang went back praying that the lunch was ready!
Wait before your Mouth’s get watery again - Yah it was Dal Bati time….one of the trip’s attraction. We all hogged to the food and thanked our cooks for the lovely culinary skills. The whole trip we were cursing the weather but that moment it started raining. The big drop of rain on the banks of Narmada River was awesome, that second no one could control and all planned to take a dip in river and feel refreshed.
The best part was the separation ghats for both men and women named as ‘Mahila Ghat’ and ‘Purush Ghat’. This separation lead to male and female oriented/interest talks and everyone enjoyed the little privacy in their own way. As we were already tired everyone just prayed to rush back home as early as possible. So the cool bathe was followed by the way back to Indore. We halt for tea at Boondi and rest it took 3 hours to reach Indore.
The trip was the most memorable Birthday party we had till date with loads of pre-planning and enthusiasm engrossed in the trip. Thanks to everyone especially Abhishek and Ankit for their valuable contributions everything was commendable. I must say even the children enjoyed a Lot!!
